Getting Here - Flight Paths

Getting to Site

Hopefully the information below answers any and all questions that you may have about arriving to site, but if you've got any more (or are just super hyped for the journey) head to the #space-transport channel on the SSAGO Discord Server or Contact Us.

We're asking that people arrive to site from 18:30 on Friday night, and will be running shuttles from East Boldon (our nearest Metro station) from shortly beforehand, depending on demand

You can find the campsite here:

West Hall Scout Campsite,
Moor Lane,
Whitburn,
Sunderland

Laniakea Supercluster

Alternatively:

By Train

If you're coming to SSAGOes to Space Rally by train, head to Newcastle Station - once you're there, you just need to head to the attached Metro station (Central Station) and jump on the Green Line Metro to East Boldon - it runs every 10-15 minutes (depending on time of day) so you shouldn't be waiting for too long!

At East Boldon you'll be met by our space shuttles (minibuses), which will be flying to and from site from 18:00-23:00. It's about a 5 minute drive, so you'll be there in no time! If you'll be arriving at East Boldon outside of these times, please get in touch with us at space@ssago.org or Contact Us - Ground Control.

By Coach

Want to save on your travel? Newcastle is served by National Express, FlixBus and Megabus on a variety of routes. Once you arrive, make your way to the nearest Metro station ( Haymarket for FlixBus and Megabus, or Central Station for National Express) and jump on the Green Line Metro to East Boldon - it runs every 10-15 minutes (depending on time of day) so you shouldn't be waiting for too long!

At East Boldon you'll be met by our space shuttles (minibuses), which will be flying to and from site from 18:00-23:00. It's about a 5 minute drive, so you'll be there in no time! By Car, Minibus or Flying Saucer

If you're driving to site, please make your way to the address above, and park your flying saucer as directed by our car park marshals. They'll be able to point you in the direction of reception where you can get yourself signed in and get on with rally!

We may be utilising the nearby football club's overflow car park so we've got more wiggle room with parking. This is a 15 minute walk from site or a 2 minute drive. If we direct you to park there, we'll organise a space shuttle for your final (very brief) leg to site.

By Plane

It's reasonably simple to fly to us, actually! If you're keen to get 30,000 ft closer to rally's theme then fly in to Newcastle International Airport. Once you've touched down, make your way to Newcastle Airport's Metro station. We're on the same Metro line as the airport, so all you need to do is ride 21 stops on the Green Line to East Boldon.
From there, board the space shuttle (minibus) once it arrives (they'll run from 18:00-23:00, but please get in touch with us at space@ssago.org or Contact Us - Ground Control) if you'll be arriving outside these times). From there, you'll be at site before you can say "the kugelblitz, the magnetar and the launch vehicle were in a syzygy until a hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene burn was executed to initiate an attempted brachistochrone transfer".*

By Spaceship

If you're just stopping by on an interstellar jaunt, firstly we'd like to express our gratitude that you chose us to be your first point of contact with humanity! We'd recommend arriving on Friday night like everyone else, as first contact is probably best done when one party hasn't just spent a weekend camping. Unfortunately we have no working spaceport onsite, but provided that your spacecraft is low-acoustic emission we should be able to arrange for you to make planetfall in the field next to site. If not, we kindly ask that you make your landing a little further from site, as the neighbouring farm have asked us not to let off fireworks as it would spook the horses; we expect that they would also object to particularly loud spacecraft.

It'd be great if you could also get in touch ahead of time at Contact Us - Ground Control and let us know that we'll have extraterrestrial attendees in advance! We can then arrange how you'll pay your attendance fees too 👽

*no, please don't ask us to actually explain this, we know it's just a bunch of long space-y words that don't make sense together!**
**we also don't guarantee that we'll get you to site before you can say that

If you experience any issues in the booking process, please contact webmaster@ssago.org.
